Below are some Frequently Asked Questions about our self-contained oiling system:

     How often should I change the oil?
You don't need to "change the oil", this is loss oil system.  The system slowly "wicks" a small amount of oil from the oil reservoir as you use the turbo.  This provides the ball bearing bore with a fine “mist of oil” for optimal lubrication and minimal drag.  You only need to refill the oil reservoir when it runs low. 

    Does my new Aerocharger need oil?
The oil reservoir will need to be filled upon initial installation.  If you are buying an installed kit, your dealer should have done this.  Otherwise, you will need to fill with oil after installing the Aerocharger.  Each turbo is shipped with the Aerocharger and separate packet of oil.  A 53 Aerocharger uses one bottle of oil and the 66 Aerocharger uses two.  

    How much oil should I use when I refill my Aerocharger?
About once a year, or 30,000 miles you may need to add more oil.  The manner in which you check varies upon the installation: 

·         For horizontal installations (the Compressor Inlet pointed to the side), fill to the brass oil plug.  

·         For vertical installations (compressor inlet pointed up), you will need to check the depth of the oil.  Use any long and clean instrument like a straw or screwdriver.  53000 Series Aerochargers needs only one inch of oil in the reservoir.  66000 series Aerochargers only needs approximately one and half inches of oil.  Do not fill more than this.  Too much oil will leak out of the wick holes and potentially cause problems with the bearings. 

    Can I refill with standard motor oil?
Absolutely not, this will cause a turbo failure and void the warranty.  Millions of dollars were invested in our bearing system development.  This resulted in not only the industry’s best performing turbocharger bearing system, but also identified the optimal oil for use in our self-contained wicking system.  Use only our uniquely formulated Aerocharger Oil.
