THE MOST COMPLETE RZR TURBO KIT
For many years now we has supplied the aftermarket with an advanced turbo, but in 2008 our engineers set forth to develop the world’s fastest-spooling turbo system for the Polaris RZR. The Aerocharger® turbo was naturally a perfect fit for this application due to it’s fast-spooling characteristics, making it the optimum turbo for small engine applications where performance at all RPM’s is demanded. As the manufacturer of the turbo used, this kit was designed with detailed knowledge and the appropriate considerations needed to best suit the performance and reliability needs required for this application. The design goals were specific yet stringent: optimum turbo efficiency, maximum reliability, ease of installation, and top quality components.

RZR

An Aerocharger® turbo was specifically sized for the RZR using engine parameters and efficiencies to obtain the required airflow and compressor pressure ratios, these values were then plotted for altitudes of 0ft – 13,000ft of elevation. Sizing the turbo correctly is the foundation of any turbo kit, but for maximum efficiency and engine performance many other factors needed to be considered such as proper exhaust and charge tube designs. The Aerocharger® RZR kit was designed to route the turbine inlet tubing for the most efficient use of exhaust gasses. In fact, the Aerocharger® turbo is so efficient that under heavy load conditions the Aerocharger® RZR exhaust gas temperatures never exceeded 1350ºF and the turbo actually achieved a positive delta condition. A positive delta condition is when the incoming exhaust pressure is lower than the outgoing charge pressure. This condition is achieved through the conservation of energy law and is said to be impossible by some conventional turbo manufacturers.

RZR

The intercooler chosen for the kit uses large tank lengths rather than long plate length to minimize pressure drop. The mounting location is opposite some other kits currently available, placing the intercooler in a truly ideal location where maximum airflow and cooling is achieved. The high efficiency of the intercooler and the Aerocharger® greatly reduces engine air temperatures, which in turn yields a combustion process much less prone to detonation. To further prevent detonation a wide-band oxygen sensor is included with every RZR kit, something that is not included with any other RZR turbo kit. The fuel controller on most kits can be adjusted on the fly in any environment as needed, but only the Aerocharger® kit includes the wide band oxygen sensor allowing users to visualize the changes made in fuel delivery with every adjustment. This provides the driver with the tools necessary to maximize their performance under any driving conditions. Optimum performance is further accomplished with the experts at EPI, who were called upon to solve the final drive questions. EPI used the original Aerocharger® test RZR during development of their clutch kit to provide best clutching available for turbocharged RZRs.

RZR

Efficiency was the most important objective for the HiPerformance team, but not at the expense of fitment and installation effort. All the proper tubing angles were achieved while maintaining a central mounting location of the turbo for the best possible weight distribution. The central mounting location also allows the turbo to be shipped as a completed sub-assembly for easy installation. HiPerformance has pre-assembled every component possible to ensure the quickest and least complex turbo kit installation. To help ease install and operation all included parts are labeled for quick recognition. A detailed 38-page picture-based installation manual is provided, as well as a full color Field Guide with recommended settings for tuning.

Not only was the Aerocharger® kit designed to be easy to install, it was designed to be the most durable kit available. All critical components have been mounted in rubber to provide dampening from vibrations transferred between the engine and the frame. The stainless steel Gibson exhaust contains two flex joints to ensure adequate flexibility to avoid potential damage as a result of engine torque. All charge tubes have been hard anodized for a stealth look and the turbo-cradle is plated with industrial grade nickel for long lasting durability and appearance.

RZR

HiPerformance spent countless hours prototyping many different designs to determine the optimal combination of turbo application, tubing design, fuel delivery, and clutching. This was then taken one step further by putting the completed Aerocharger® RZR through the same scenarios the customers will be putting their RZRs through. During this process the Aerocharger® test RZR was outfitted with a Racepak data acquisition system to carefully observe exhaust temperatures from both cylinders, charge tube pressure before and after the intercooler, intake manifold pressure, exhaust pressure, intake vacuum, charge tube temperatures before and after the intercooler, turbine speed, and engine rpm. Utilizing this system the RZR was tested in a variety of environments ranging from sand dunes to mountain passes with no engine problems or component failures. The kit has also been tested at a variety of a boost levels to determine safe operating ranges and the limits of the RZR engines them selves.

At a safe and reliable 8psi, RZR owners can expect at least 100% more hp and no turbo lag. Boost levels are also adjustable for those who may have upgraded engines. Simply put the Aerocharger® kit gives RZR owners more than double stock horsepower in a well laid-out, reliable kit that most mechanically-inclined RZR owners will be able to install in about three to four hours with simple hand tools. notes
Before purchasing any kind of turbo system it's always a good idea to check your local EPA regulations. The Aerocharger is the only turbocharger designated by the National Forest Service as an effective spark arrestor. According to the latest Spark Arrestor Guide for Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV):

"Turbochargers qualify as effective spark arrestors only when 100% of the exhaust gases pass through the turbine wheel. The turbine wheel must be turning at all times during engine operation and there must be no exhaust bypass to the atmosphere."

Conventional turbochargers, be it internal or external wastegate, do not qualify as spark arrestors and therefore require a spark arrestor of some sort. The Aerocharger however utilizes 100% of the exhaust gases at all times, even at max boost. This not only means better effecincy and faster response, but also means that you automatically abide by your local spark arrestor laws.
